How to Configure the Spam Filter in cPanel?

What is Spam Filter?

A spam filter is a tool in cPanel that helps block unwanted or junk emails from reaching your inbox. It automatically checks incoming messages and filters out suspicious or irrelevant ones—like ads, scams, or mass emails. In cPanel, you can turn the spam filter on or off, adjust its sensitivity, and even set up blacklists or whitelists to control who can email you. It’s an easy way to keep your inbox clean and make sure you don’t miss important messages.

Benefits of Spam Filter

Cleaner Inbox - Automatically blocks unwanted emails, so your inbox stays organized.
Saves Time - Reduces the need to manually delete junk or sort through spam.
Better Security - Helps protect against phishing emails, scams, and harmful links.
Custom Control - You can adjust filter strength, block specific senders, or allow trusted contacts.
Improved Email Performance - Keeps your email system running smoothly by filtering out high volumes of spam.

In the guide below, we’ll walk you through how to configure the Spam Filter in cPanel.

Email whitelisting means allowing specific email addresses or domains to bypass spam filters and always be delivered directly to your inbox. You can click + Add A New "whitelist_form" Item to add email address that you want to.
When you whitelist an email, you are telling the server: "I trust emails from this address or domain. Please do not block or mark them as spam."

Email blacklisting means blocking specific email addresses or domains so that emails from them are automatically rejected, sent to the spam folder, or ignored. You can click + Add A New "blacklist_form" Item to blacklist email address that you want to.
When you blacklist an email, you are telling the server: "I do not trust emails from this address or domain. Please treat them as spam or block them."
