# How to Scan for Viruses in cPanel ?

### Introduction

Fortunately, cPanel provides a built-in **Virus Scanner** tool that allows you to easily detect and remove harmful files directly from your hosting account without needing any advanced technical skills. Running regular scans helps you maintain a clean, secure, and stable website environment.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps on how to scan for viruses in your cPanel. Whether you suspect that your website has been infected, or you simply want to perform a routine check, this article will help you identify and handle any suspicious files safely and effectively.

1. Login into your cPanel using the username and password provided.

2. In the search bar, find **Virus Scanner.**

3. Select the type of scan you want to run:
* **Scan Entire Home Directory** – Scan all files in your hosting account (recommended).
* **Scan Mail** – Scan email accounts only.
* **Scan Public Web Space** – Scan files in your website folders.
* **Scan Public FTP Space** – Scan files uploaded via FTP.

4. Click **Scan Now** to start the scan.

5. Wait for the scan to complete. If any files are infected, you will see the option to **delete** or **quarantine** the files.
